In 1929, Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, saw the founding of Annamalai University Distance Education. AU is recognized by the AICTE, UGC, MCI, DCI, and NCTE. In 2014, NAAC gave AU an "A" rating. Additionally, it offers DEC-approved online courses (Distance Education Council). Over 500 courses are available through the online learning program of Annamalai University.


It is also the first institution in India to provide online or distance-learning postgraduate (PG) degree programs in law, biotechnology, zoology, chemistry, and physics.

The university is known to offer a wide range of specializations in its distance education program that is available in several fields of education like arts, science, and commerce. And the management courses and specializations are highly famous and recommended by alumni and localities of the university.

Annamalai University Distance Education Admission procedure 

  • To finish the registration process, students must go to the website for Annamalai University Distance Education Courses.

  • The registration form must be completed by students, who must provide their name, phone number, email address, and other pertinent data.

  • After registering, students must fill out forms for their academic and personal details, which also call for the submission of supporting evidence.

  • This document submission should be scanned since the students won't be accepting camera-click photographs.

  • Before moving on to the payment stage, students must double-check the form after they have filled out all the necessary fields.

  • Making a payment, which can be done through UPI, debit, or DD is the last step in the registration process.

  • A copy of the payment receipt should be kept for your records.

  • The application fee is INR 400 for the general category and INR 200 for the restricted category for the UG and PG programs.

Annamalai University Distance Education Eligibility Criteria 

Both in January and July of each year, Annamalai University Distance Education holds its admissions procedure. Degree programs are available in BA, B.Com, B.Sc, MBA, BBA, MA, M.Com, and M.Sc. the candidates can apply from both online and offline modes of registration. Others require entrance tests, while some courses will admit students based only on their academic performance.


  • Students must have passed their preceding qualifying exams with a minimum grade of 40% (or 44% for SC/ST applicants) in order to apply for any of the courses.

  • Candidates for the university's postgraduate programs must hold a bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Candidates who want to enroll in remote learning courses at Annamalai University can do so online through the Annamalai University DDE portal.

  • Applications must be submitted in person at the university office or by mail. You can pay the application fee with demand drafts.


Through Annamalai University Distance Education admission is offered for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, Certificate, and Ph.D. degrees. In some PG programs, admission examinations are required, and students are selected for UG programs based on their merit.


The institution administers an entrance exam to students who seek to enroll in management or research programs.

In 1929, Annamalai University was established with the goal of promoting people who, for a variety of reasons, cannot pursue formal education owing to time constraints or financial constraints. Annamalai University provided more than 200 distance learning courses so that students would have a wide range of choices and the freedom to finish their preferred courses at their own speed.
